Description

This map is based on the real Skara Brae in Orkney, Scotland. It contains ten houses, and an estimated 50-100 people lived here over the six centuries it was occupied. On top of this, it predates Stonehenge and even had basic plumbing from these houses and out to the sea! Archaeologists believe this settlement was very quickly abandoned as the people believed that the incoming storm would bury it over days, but it took much longer than that. However, as they left in such a rush, many pieces remain as they were when it was abandoned, perfectly preserved in the state that they were in over 5000 years ago.
