When I'd first purchased Dungeondraft, I was excited to be able to finally make battle maps for my players to use instead of trying (and failing) to make them in Clip Studio Paint. But it soon became very clear that Dungeondraft's assets, for all that there are, were hardly comprehensive, and, whilst able to render a playable map fine, weren't great for making maps that felt great to look at.
I spent quite a bit of time searching CartographyAssets to try and find a good way to expand the assets I had at my disposal. The issue was that those battle maps were to be featured on a stream (and later VOD), and would count as commercial use. This locked me out of a lot of assets from across CartographyAssets. Enter Skront, and their use of the CAL-NA-NCR.
CAL-NA-NCR means that the assets can't be resold, but CAN be used commercially, without attribution. That's never stopped me from crediting Skront during the streams anyway, because her assets are just so good. At a glance, they fit right in with Dungeondraft's native assets. And, though the style is a little bit different; Skront's made so many different assets that I scarcely find myself ever using Dungeondraft's own!
Such is the nicety of having Skront's library of assets at my beck and call when making maps that I own every single commercial license bar the original Rugs pack. I can spend an entire session of mapmaking ignoring the rest of Dungeondraft's assets, exclusively using the by-now vast collection of assets Skront has produced. All the assets from all the different packs merge wonderfully together, and with them, I've made maps that my players have loved fighting on and gazing at. Even while being relatively new to making maps!
That all of her assets can also be obtained free for personal use is icing on the cake. If you're new to Dungeondraft, I highly implore you download every single pack and get a sense for just how many new assets you'll have at your leisure, and how many more new, fresh, varied, and interesting maps you can make a result of it. Even if you don't use the maps you make in any commercial manner, you may yet still be compelled to buy a few licenses in remuneration for the Brobdingnagianly expanded library of objects, terrains, and paths you'll possess.
I eagerly await whenever a new pack is available, and, without question, I highly recommend Skront's Stuff!
